Do You Have What it Takes to Be a Model?
Being a professional model is something many young people want to do, but it takes quite a bit of work. The majority of models are contracted to specific companies, though 18 percent of models are self employed, and as a result work only freelance jobs rather than being tied down to one specific company.
Modeling agencies actually employ scouts who seek out potential models in high populated public places. These scouts know how to get a modeling job, and can hook up potential talent with summer modeling jobs, magazine modeling jobs and all types of modeling jobs.
Style is a big part of modeling as well. For instance, unless you are just doing face modeling jobs, what you wear plays a big part in how you look. The famous Frenchman Napoleon Bonaparte actually invented buttons on sleeves, and he did so so soldiers wouldn’t wipe their noses on their sleeves. Many years later, there are many shirts and jackets with sleeves on the button, as part of a fashion statement.
So where does the allure of being a professional model come from? Well, world renowned fashion model Gisele Bunchen, wife of NFL legend Tom Brady, made $29 million last year alone. Although she is one of the more well known professional models, models generally make a good living. However, modeling agencies often require individuals to change their haircut, weight and clothing style in order to work for a particular company.
If you want to be a model, you have to work your way up. To get the best magazine modeling jobs, you might have to start with some smaller, summer based jobs or part time work. No one starts off being a Victoria’s Secret Angel. You have to work for everything you get in life, and modeling jobs are certainly no exception.
