Three Ways to Make Life Easier on Moving Day

Movers

Moving is stressful enough without having to worry about any snafus with the long distance movers. Whether you are using pods, which are portable storage units, or the traditional long distance movers who drive the truck for you and everything, there are a few things you can do to mitigate your inevitably high amount of stress.

1. Make sure there is room to park the truck.

It sounds like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how easy it can be to overlook this fact. Sometimes you just plain old forgot, or perhaps you might overlook the fact that there might not be parking on the street that particular day, or you might even underestimate the size of the truck. It would definitely be best to always plan to give the moving truck too much room.

2. Keep pets and kids out of the way when packing and unpacking the trucks!

As adorable as they are, the scampering of children and pets can prove to make tricky situations worse. It is always easier for any party involved if kids and pets are looked after, rather than being left to run around where they can knock something over or cause an accident. After all, the long distance movers who are painstakingly carrying your sofa down a flight of stairs would definitely appreciate it if you put mittens away so as not to trip them up.

3. Go over the inventory list that the long distance movers will give you when finished.

When the movers are done packing your stuff on the truck, they will give you a complete list of your items. It is best if you look this list over quite carefully in order to make sure it is correct and legible before you sign. This way, if an item becomes lost or damaged, you will know for sure that it was on their list because you read it. Trust me on that one.
