Rotting piles of trash can emit incredible amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which contributes to global warming. Therefore, things are changing with how we manage our trash. Las Vegas produces about five billion pounds of trash per year. In the past, all of this trash was simply dumped into a giant pile in the desert. However, this is changing. For example, food garbage is all mixed together and heated up to make a safe soup for nearby farmers to feed their pigs.
